Khashmak - the famous “Nose Kiss” or 'Give me your nose”, is like a western handshake using other means, a greeting to show respect. In Amrita’s signature style she recorded the word “Khashmak” and captured the structure of the sound wave. She has then painted images that represent the meaning of the word to create Voice note Art(c).

Local dialect and slang in every culture is a great way to get an understanding and appreciation of the culture.
It will connect with the local nationals and residents of the UAE but also help educate the visitors in a fun and colourful way.

Amrita painted the “Khashmak” mural at the Souk Madinat Jumeirah in Dubai, UAE and both the Souk Madinat Jumeirah and Amrita Sethi invite you to the Souk to check out the original artwork.  Go to the Souk and stand in between the two camels to recreate your own version of “Khashmak” and tag both @soukmedinatjumeirah and @art.by.amrita as well for the chance to featured on the Instagram pages.
