Curriculum

Discover the power of blockchain technology with the first and most famous implementation of it, the Bitcoin network, with our easy-to-follow Module 1. Learn how information is stored in a distributed database, without a central control server. Benefit from over 35 years of research and development in cryptography, economics, network protocols, and data storage to master this technology.

Here's what you'll learn:

  • The basics of blockchain technology and its history.
  • What a hash function is and how it works.
  • The principle of creating blocks in the blockchain.
  • How the Bitcoin network was created, and what miners do.
  • Bitcoin issuance and halving, and how transactions take place.
  • The UTXO model and how to send part of a Bitcoin.
  • Tracking transactions and other information on the Bitcoin network.

Here, we'll delve into Bitcoin technology and its impact on the financial system's evolution. We'll see how the first cryptocurrency led to blockchain technology and Bitcoin forks with new consensus algorithms. We'll also discuss how it allows remote money transfers without a central governing body. By the end of this module, you'll understand Bitcoin's significance in the world of cryptocurrencies.

Here's what you'll learn:

  • Basic features of the Bitcoin protocol
  • Forks and types of forks in Bitcoin
  • Proof-of-Work and Proof-of-Stake consensus and their differences
  • Nodes and their role in creating a decentralized network
  • Types of blockchains
  • A brief history of money and fiat money
  • Current and future use of blockchain technology

Welcome to Module 3 of our course! In this module, we will be exploring Ethereum, the second-generation blockchain platform that launched in 2015. Ethereum is not just a cryptocurrency, but a global computer on a blockchain network that enables the creation of decentralised applications and the operation of smart contracts. This is what makes it different from Bitcoin.

Here's what you'll learn:

  • Cryptocurrency basics: definition and characteristics.
  • Comparison between first and second generation blockchains.
  • Structure and key differences of Ethereum compared to Bitcoin.
  • Understanding coins and tokens, including token standards on Ethereum.
  • Ethereum Virtual Machine and the concept of smart contracts.
  • Pros and cons of decentralised applications and their use on Ethereum.
  • Present and future challenges for Ethereum, including scalability and security.

Ethereum's smart contract technology has paved the way for the creation of new cryptocurrencies and projects, such as decentralized finance, blockchain games, and non-fungible tokens. There are over 22,000 cryptocurrencies, including Bitcoin, the first cryptocurrency. Altcoins vary in scope and functionality, for example stablecoins have become a low-volatility payment medium.

Here's what you'll learn:

  • What altcoins, coins, and tokens are.
  • The different types of cryptocurrencies and payment systems.
  • Main infrastructure platforms for cryptocurrencies.
  • What exchange tokens are used for.
  • The purpose and type of stablecoins and how anonymous coins work.
  • What DeFi protocols, GameFi, NFT, and Oracles are.
  • The purpose of memecoins and fan tokens.

We’ll take you along to the blockchain trilemma, which prevents blockchains from being efficient and secure while maintaining independence. It knows three features: decentralization, security, and scalability. Blockchains can only have two of these features at the same time. We’ll dive into what layers and their functions are and practice with different blockchain scanners.

Here's what you'll learn:

  • Blockchain scalability issues
  • Blockchain layers and their applications
  • Different L2 solutions
  • The differences between EVM-compatible and EVM-incompatible networks
  • The differences between L1 and L2 networks
  • How addresses differ on various networks
  • How different networks interact and how bridges work

Cryptocurrency wallets allow you to store cryptocurrencies and connect to various decentralised services. Cryptocurrencies have a potential to be more than just a means of payment. This comes with increased personal responsibility. If you lose your private keys, it is virtually impossible to regain access to the funds. It is therefore crucial to follow security rules when dealing with cryptocurrencies.

Here's what you'll learn:

  • Types of cryptocurrency wallets and their differences.
  • Types of cryptocurrency storage.
  • The advantages and disadvantages of different types of storage.
  • How to store cryptocurrency securely.
  • The main types of loss and how to deal with them.
  • Why do you need your own security protocol.
  • How to build your own security protocol

This module focuses on practical exercises with blockchain services to put theoretical knowledge into practice, aiming to help understand using cryptocurrencies for payment and exchange in daily life. In the how-to videos you’ll learn how to transfer cryptocurrency using different wallets and networks. Keep practicing until you can do it in your dreams.

Here's what you'll learn:

  • How to work with cryptocurrency wallets.

Learning how to handle cryptocurrencies is not only about buying and selling them securely but also tracking your cryptocurrency portfolio. This module focuses on studying cryptocurrency services and tools. Cryptocurrency market analysis involves using aggregators that gather financial data on coins and tokens, different segments of the crypto market, and promising crypto projects from free sources.

Here's what you'll learn:

  • The different types of exchangers and their differences.
  • The pros and cons of different exchanges.
  • Safe rules for cryptocurrency exchanges.
  • Key metrics used for cryptocurrency market analysis.
  • The platforms that can be used to analyze cryptocurrency projects.
  • Where to keep records of transactions and track your cryptocurrency portfolio.
  • How to use the CoinMarketCap analysis platform
