Souk Madinat Jumeriah

Souk Madinat Jumeriah

Art by Amrita’s mural with Souk Madinat Jumeirah holds a special place for the artist. When she moved to the UAE in 2007 the Souk was the place that she would meet family, friends and colleagues. Now in 2019 she is proud that the Souk houses one of her award winning Voice note Art Collection as the Souk has become an important art Hub in the UAE.
Do visit the Souk Madinat Jumeirah to admire Amrita Sethi’s Mural titled “Souk Madinat” Voice note Art (c) 2019. The Souk is one of Dubai and the UAE’s treasures that celebrates the culture, history and essence of the Emirates in a way that is modern, inclusive and diverse. Now the Souk Madinat Jumeirah has become an important Art Hub in the UAE with 6 other talented artists to admire- commonly known as the Souk 7.

For the mural, Amrita first captured the shape of the sound wave of the name “ Souk Madinat Jumeirah” and then she  created images that tell the story of the UAE and captures the essence of what the Souk and the UAE represents. As a Tech Artist Amrita always connects the viewer with the art through technology. Go and try out the hand painted QR code (yes it actually works!) and see for yourself the original sound wave that created the artwork. When you go do take a pic and tag her on instagram @art.by.amrita with the #voicenoteart.

4th – 7th October 2019

Art by Amrita collaborated with Key Sponsors Bupa Global during the Asia Contemporary Art Show in Hong Kong 2019 during 4th- 7th October to present Amrita’s ‘Hong Kong’ Voice note Art ©.

The Art of Your Voice Body and Mind

Bupa recognises the powerful contribution the arts can make to our health and well-being. Evidence has shown that art can help people to stay well, recover faster, and experience a higher quality of life.

At the Asia Contemporary Art Show, Bupa Global and Art by Amrita combined art and technology to bring the “Hong Kong” Voice note Art © to voices of the visitors.

Visitors to the art show’s Bupa Global Art Room had the chance to be part of a sensory, live art activation combining art with technology. After the visitor said their name into a voice recorder booth, an image of the shape of the sound wave of the voice is captured, Amrita and her team then merged the lines of the sound waves with Amrita’s original ‘Hong Kong’ artwork which has features synonymous with Hong Kong, including its legendary skyline. The pieces were created on fine art paper and framed for the visitor to take with them. It was finished off by Amrita personally handwriting the visitor’s name and signing the artwork herself, producing a one-off collector’s piece by the artist.
